STARLAKE provides LED barn lights for parking structures, underground passageways, corridors, service areas, and related commercial or utility spaces requiring broad localized illumination.
The current BL02 platform combines 150° distribution, selectable output and CCT, 0–10V dimming, optional occupancy sensors and emergency configurations, IP65 protection, and surface or round-pole mounting.
For lighting brands, distributors, contractors, and project buyers, STARLAKE also provides OEM/ODM engineering, manufacturing, quality control, and North American warehouse support.
How to Choose the Right LED Barn Light
Begin with where the fixture will be mounted and what area it needs to illuminate.
A building surface, round pole, passageway, corridor, or parking structure creates different relationships between fixture position and target area.
A practical selection sequence is:
Mounting Position → Target Area → Distribution → Required Coverage → Controls → Final Configuration
Confirm:
Mounting location, height, and orientation
Target-area dimensions
Required illuminance
Required coverage
Supply voltage
Operating schedule and controls
Environmental conditions
Mechanical mounting requirements
Once these conditions are known, output, CCT, electrical configuration, controls, and mounting can be selected around the installation rather than wattage alone.
Mounting Position, Distribution & Target-Area Coverage
Barn light performance depends on the relationship between the fixture and the surface it serves.
A useful engineering relationship is:
Mounting Position + Distribution → Target-Surface Coverage → Illuminance
Luminous flux describes the total quantity of emitted light, while illuminance describes how much light reaches a surface. Fixtures with similar lumen output can therefore produce different installed results when mounting height, angle, orientation, or distribution changes.
The STARLAKE BL02 platform uses a 150° distribution for broad localized coverage from its mounting position.
Actual performance still depends on:
Mounting height and orientation
Target-area geometry
Fixture output and photometry
Required illuminance
Interaction with adjacent fixtures
A wider distribution is not automatically better for every installation. For projects where coverage, spacing, or light levels are critical, evaluate the fixture-specific photometric data against the actual installation geometry.
Broad Coverage & Visual Comfort
Wide distribution can illuminate a larger localized area, but coverage should be evaluated together with normal viewing positions.
A useful relationship is:
Mounting Height + Orientation + Source Visibility → Visual Comfort
This is particularly relevant in corridors, passageways, parking structures, and similar environments where people may pass relatively close to the fixture.
Fixture orientation should place useful light on the target area without unnecessarily exposing high source brightness to common viewing directions.
Where a project establishes specific glare, cutoff, or spill-light criteria, verify performance with fixture-specific photometric data rather than assuming a 150° distribution automatically satisfies those requirements.
Controls for Different Operating Conditions
Parking structures, passageways, corridors, and service areas may experience changing occupancy or operating schedules.
The STARLAKE BL02 platform supports 0–10V dimming and optional microwave motion sensor, Zhaga microwave motion sensor, PIR sensor, and emergency driver configurations.
This creates several possible operating strategies:
Variable Occupancy → Sensor Detection → Output Adjustment
or
Normal Power Loss → Emergency Driver → Emergency Lighting Operation
Occupancy sensing can reduce unnecessary full-output runtime in intermittently used areas, while an emergency-driver configuration can address projects requiring backup illumination.
Dimming, sensor, emergency, driver, and electrical compatibility should be confirmed for the specific configuration before ordering.
Outdoor Protection & Installation
Installation environment and mounting conditions should be evaluated together.
The current STARLAKE BL02 platform features:
IP65 protection
Die-cast aluminum housing with powder-coat finish
UV-stabilized polycarbonate lens
Surface and round-pole mounting options
A practical project check is:
Installation Location → Environmental Exposure → Mounting Method → Electrical Requirements
Before ordering, confirm the mounting structure or pole dimensions, fixture orientation, supply voltage, wiring conditions, installation access, and environmental exposure.
IP65 should not be treated as universal suitability for every outdoor condition. Coastal corrosion, unusual chemical exposure, extreme temperatures, or other demanding environments may require additional evaluation.
CCT & Electrical Options
The BL02 platform provides selectable 3500K, 4000K, and 5000K CCT configurations.
3500K provides a somewhat warmer appearance, 4000K a neutral commercial appearance, and 5000K a cooler appearance.
The final configuration should coordinate:
Required Coverage + Electrical Supply + CCT + Controls → Fixture Configuration
Power, input voltage, dimming, sensor, and emergency requirements should therefore be confirmed together rather than treated as independent selections.
Replacing HID & Legacy Fixtures
LED barn lights can also be evaluated for modernization of existing commercial or utility lighting.
A retrofit should not assume:
Existing HID Wattage = New LED Wattage
The replacement fixture can differ in optical distribution, system efficiency, controls, and the amount of useful light reaching the target area.
A better process is:
Existing Fixture → Mounting Position → Electrical Supply → Target Area → Required Performance → LED Configuration
Document:
Existing fixture and lamp type
Mounting height and position
Supply voltage
Existing controls
Target area
Current or required lighting performance
Mounting dimensions and installation photographs can help identify mechanical compatibility or required installation changes.
The objective is to replace the required installed lighting performance, not simply the legacy wattage.
Where Can LED Barn Lights Be Applied?
The BL02 specification identifies parking garages, underground passageways, and corridors as recommended applications.
| Application | Main Project Considerations |
|---|---|
| Parking Garages | Coverage, mounting position, controls, visibility |
| Underground Passageways | Continuous illumination, mounting, operating conditions |
| Corridors | Distribution, fixture placement, visual comfort |
The platform may also be evaluated for related commercial or utility spaces with similar mounting, coverage, electrical, and environmental requirements.
Suitability should follow actual installation conditions rather than the application name alone.
