STARLAKE commercial LED linear strip lights provide continuous, wide-distribution illumination for commercial and light-industrial applications. Designed as an LED alternative to traditional fluorescent strip lighting, the SP05-M combines selectable output, flexible installation, dimming, and optional controls in a rigid linear luminaire.
Available in 4FT and 8FT configurations from 24W to 80W, the series delivers up to 130 lm/W with listed lumen packages up to 10,400 lumens. Selectable 3500K, 4000K, and 5000K CCT, 0–10V dimming, surface or suspended mounting, and optional sensor and emergency configurations allow one platform to address different commercial requirements.
4FT & 8FT | 24W–80W | Selectable Power | 3CCT Selectable | 0–10V Dimming
For distributors, contractors, lighting brands, and retrofit programs, these configurable specifications can reduce the number of fixed variants required across projects.
Why Choose LED Linear Strip Fixtures for Commercial Projects?
Commercial linear strip fixtures are designed for spaces requiring broad, practical illumination across elongated or functional areas.
The SP05-M retains the familiar linear format used in fluorescent strip installations while adding selectable output, CCT, dimming, and optional control capabilities.
Key configurations include:
4FT and 8FT lengths
Selectable wattages from 24W to 80W
Up to 10,400 lumens
Up to 130 lm/W
3500K / 4000K / 5000K selectable CCT
CRI 80
120–277V or 120–347V input options
0–10V dimming
Optional sensors
Optional emergency battery accessory for compatible configurations
Surface or suspended mounting
50,000-hour rated life
Five-year limited warranty
The practical advantage is not simply having more settings. One configurable platform can address multiple commercial lighting requirements.
Choose the Right Output Without Adding More SKUs
Required output depends on mounting height, spacing, room geometry, surface reflectance, and target illuminance.
The SP05-M provides four selectable-output configurations:
| Length | Selectable Wattage | Listed Maximum Output |
|---|---|---|
| 4FT | 24W / 32W / 40W | 5,200 lm |
| 4FT | 30W / 40W / 50W | 6,500 lm |
| 8FT | 40W / 50W / 64W | 8,320 lm |
| 8FT | 50W / 64W / 80W | 10,400 lm |
For contractors, selectable power provides adjustment flexibility across areas requiring different output.
For distributors and wholesalers:
Selectable Output → Broader Project Coverage → Fewer Fixed SKUs → Lower Inventory Complexity
The maximum setting should not be treated as the default. Output should follow the required lighting performance and layout.
Wide Distribution for Continuous, Uniform Lighting
Documented SP05-M photometric data shows an average beam angle of approximately 120°, producing broad distribution rather than concentrating most output directly beneath the fixture.
This characteristic can support:
Broad general illumination
Overlap between adjacent fixtures
Continuous coverage across elongated spaces
Reduced dependence on isolated high-intensity zones
A useful relationship is:
~120° Distribution + Mounting Height + Spacing → Coverage & Uniformity
Room dimensions, surface reflectance, fixture orientation, and obstructions also influence installed performance.
Where fixture quantity, illuminance, or uniformity is specified, verify the layout using photometric data for the actual SP05-M configuration.
Select 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K on Site
The SP05-M can be configured for 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K.
3500K provides a somewhat warmer neutral appearance for commercial interiors and common areas.
4000K provides a neutral appearance commonly used across corridors, work areas, utility rooms, and general commercial spaces.
5000K provides a cooler visual character where required by the project.
CCT should follow the application, surrounding surfaces, adjacent lighting, and project requirements.
The series is specified at CRI 80, positioning it primarily for general commercial and utility illumination. Applications where accurate color evaluation of merchandise, artwork, food, or materials is important may require higher color-rendering performance.
Surface, Suspended, Dimming, and Control Options
SP05-M supports both surface-mounted and suspended installation.
Surface mounting keeps the fixture close to the ceiling or structural surface. Suspended installation lowers the lighting plane where ceiling conditions, mounting height, or project design require it.
Changing suspension height also changes the relationship between the fixture and target plane:
Mounting Height → Coverage + Illuminance + Spacing Requirements
The fixture supports 0–10V dimming and optional sensor configurations. A compatible emergency battery accessory is also available for selected configurations requiring emergency operation.
Driver, sensor, wiring, emergency function, and building controls should be confirmed together for the specified configuration.
Where Do LED Linear Strip Lights Work Best?
Commercial LED linear strip fixtures are suited to spaces requiring broad linear illumination rather than concentrated accent lighting.
Commercial and Utility Spaces
Stock rooms, service areas, utility rooms, back-of-house areas, and similar interiors can use the slim linear format and selectable output for general illumination.
Corridors and Continuous Areas
Linear geometry works naturally with elongated circulation spaces. Fixture length, spacing, and mounting should be coordinated to maintain coverage along the route.
Workshops and Light-Industrial Areas
Selectable output allows one fixture platform to address different lighting requirements, while mounting height, equipment positions, work-plane illuminance, and environmental conditions determine whether the fixture is appropriate.
Fluorescent Strip Retrofit Projects
Existing fluorescent strip installations are a natural retrofit application, but replacement should not rely on wattage equivalence alone.
Use:
Existing Fixture → Existing Layout → Required Maintained Illuminance → LED Distribution → Required Output → Controls → Final Configuration
Also document existing mounting, wiring, voltage, fixture length, and spacing before selecting the replacement.
LED Linear Strip Fixture vs. LED Tape Light
The term LED strip light can describe two fundamentally different products.
| Consideration | Commercial LED Linear Strip Fixture | Flexible LED Tape Light |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | Complete rigid linear luminaire | Flexible PCB strip |
| Common Format | Standard lengths such as 4FT and 8FT | Continuous roll cut to length |
| Power System | Commercial AC fixture with LED driver | Typically low-voltage remote power |
| Mounting | Surface or suspended | Adhesive backing or aluminum channel |
| Primary Function | General and utility illumination | Accent and decorative illumination |
| Typical Applications | Commercial and light-industrial interiors | Cove, cabinet, display, architectural details |
STARLAKE’s SP05-M belongs to the commercial LED linear strip fixture category, not flexible LED tape.
The distinction affects voltage, output, drivers, mounting, controls, accessories, and suitable applications—not merely product terminology.
How to Specify the Right LED Linear Strip Light
A practical specification sequence is:
1. Define the Application and Target Illuminance
Identify how the space is used and the required light level at the relevant work or circulation plane.
2. Select Fixture Length
Determine whether 4FT or 8FT better fits the installation geometry and desired layout.
3. Confirm Mounting Height and Spacing
These variables influence delivered illuminance, coverage, and uniformity.
4. Select Required Output
Choose the appropriate selectable wattage and lumen package from the layout rather than defaulting to maximum output.
5. Confirm CCT and Color Requirements
Select 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K and determine whether CRI 80 meets the visual task.
6. Confirm Electrical Requirements
Verify 120–277V or 120–347V supply requirements and whether 0–10V dimming is required.
7. Define Controls and Emergency Requirements
Identify sensors and any compatible emergency battery requirements.
8. Confirm Installation and Project Requirements
Verify surface or suspended mounting, accessories, environmental conditions, certification, and other project-specific requirements.
Where fixture quantity, spacing, or uniformity is critical, use configuration-specific photometric data for final verification.
