Our portfolio supports architectural, ambient, general, and accent lighting with linear luminaires, track lights, and T8 solutions for different visual tasks and installation conditions.
Effective commercial lighting is not determined by wattage or lumen output alone. Illuminance, light distribution, uniformity, color quality, mounting conditions, and controls must work together to deliver the intended result.
Founded in 2010, STARLAKE supports lighting brands, distributors, contractors, importers, and project buyers with LED manufacturing, engineering, OEM and ODM development, quality control, and North American warehouse support.
Which Commercial Indoor Light Fits Your Project?
Start with the lighting function before selecting wattage or fixture shape. Different fixture families distribute light differently and therefore serve different roles within a commercial space.
| Lighting Requirement | Recommended Fixture | Lighting Character | Typical Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Architectural ambient lighting | LED Architectural Linear Light | Controlled linear distribution | Modern offices, reception areas, commercial interiors |
| Broad general illumination | Tira de luces LED lineales | Wide distribution | Offices, classrooms, common areas, commercial spaces |
| Accent and display lighting | Foco LED de riel | Directional and adjustable | Retail stores, showrooms, merchandise displays |
| Linear general lighting or replacement | Tubo fluorescente LED T8 | Broad linear illumination | Existing commercial linear-lighting systems and retrofit projects |
A practical selection sequence is:
Application → Lighting Function → Distribution → Mounting → Output
This approach is more reliable than choosing a fixture from wattage alone.
Design for Illuminance, Distribution and Uniformity
Lumens describe how much visible light a luminaire produces. Commercial lighting design must also consider where that light goes and how much reaches the required surface.
Illuminance, measured in lux or foot-candles, describes the light reaching a work plane, display, floor, wall, or other target surface. Two luminaires with similar lumen output can produce very different results because beam angle, mounting height, spacing, optics, room geometry, and surface reflectance affect how the light is distributed.
STARLAKE indoor products illustrate these differences. The LS01 Architectural Linear Light uses a 95° beam, while the SP05 Linear Strip Light provides a wider 120° distribution. STARLAKE track lights offer narrower or adjustable beam configurations for more concentrated accent lighting.
The basic relationship is:
Lumens → Optics → Mounting Height → Illuminance → Uniformity
Wider distribution generally supports broader ambient coverage, while narrower distribution creates stronger focal emphasis. Excessive concentration, however, can produce bright centers, dark surrounding areas, and uncomfortable contrast.
Vertical surfaces matter as well. Illuminated walls, shelving, displays, signage, and faces contribute to perceived brightness, particularly in retail stores, reception areas, corridors, and contemporary offices. Increasing horizontal illuminance alone does not necessarily make a space look better or brighter.
For layout-sensitive projects, fixture quantity and spacing should be verified with fixture-specific photometric data or IES files.
Combine Ambient, Task and Accent Lighting
Commercial interiors often perform better when light is layered according to the visual task rather than distributed at one uniform level everywhere.
Architectural linear and strip luminaires can establish the ambient layer across the space. Directional track lighting can then add emphasis where merchandise, displays, architectural details, or other focal areas require more attention.
This is particularly useful in retail environments, where increasing general illumination throughout the store may be less effective than directing additional light toward merchandise.
The same principle applies to workplaces. General lighting provides comfortable background illumination while the layout delivers appropriate illuminance where demanding visual tasks occur.
For STARLAKE’s current indoor portfolio:
Architectural Linear / Linear Strip → Ambient and general illumination
Track Lighting → Accent and focal illumination
T8 Lighting → General linear illumination and replacement-oriented applications
The objective is to allocate light according to the task rather than simply maximize brightness.
Select CCT and CRI for the Space
Commercial lighting influences how people perceive merchandise, materials, interior finishes, food, artwork, and skin tones.
Correlated color temperature determines whether white light appears warmer or cooler. Warmer CCTs generally support more relaxed environments, while neutral whites are commonly selected for work-oriented spaces where visual clarity is important.
| Solicitud | Lighting Priority | CCT Direction |
|---|---|---|
| Offices and workspaces | Visual clarity and balanced ambient light | Neutral white |
| Retail and showrooms | Merchandise appearance and visual hierarchy | Warm to neutral depending on merchandise |
| Hospitality spaces | Atmosphere and visual comfort | Warmer white |
| Pasillos y zonas comunes | Comfortable general visibility | Warm to neutral |
| Accent and display lighting | Color recognition and focal emphasis | Selected around merchandise and design intent |
Color rendering becomes particularly important when the lighting affects how products or materials are evaluated.
STARLAKE TL02 and TL04 track lights provide CRI 90+, supporting retail, showroom, and display applications where accurate color recognition matters. Current STARLAKE indoor configurations also provide selectable CCT options, with track-light models ranging from 2700K to 5000K and selected T8 configurations extending to cooler color temperatures.
CCT and CRI should therefore be selected around the visual task rather than treated as secondary specifications.
Match the Fixture to the Installation
Commercial lighting must work with the building as well as the lighting design.
Finished ceilings, exposed structures, existing fluorescent fixtures, retail tracks, and renovation projects create different installation constraints. Confirming the mounting method early helps avoid selecting a fixture that performs well photometrically but does not fit the project conditions.
Current STARLAKE indoor lighting configurations support several installation approaches:
Architectural Linear Light – suspension or ceiling mounting
Linear Strip Light – suspended or surface installation
Track Light – 3-wire track installation
T8 Integrated Tube – surface mounting or suspension
T8 Type B – single-end wiring configuration
Architectural linear systems are particularly suitable where the luminaire becomes part of the interior design. Surface and suspended linear fixtures provide flexibility where recessed installation is impractical, while track systems allow directional fixtures to be repositioned around changing displays.
For retrofit projects, existing wiring and fixture configuration should always be checked before the replacement is specified.
Dimming and Control Options
Lighting controls allow commercial spaces to adjust output according to occupancy, daylight, operating schedules, and different activities.
Current STARLAKE LS01 Architectural Linear Lights and SP05 Linear Strip Lights support 0–10V dimming, providing adjustable output when used with compatible control systems.
Projects requiring occupancy sensors, daylight harvesting, centralized building controls, emergency operation, or other advanced functions should confirm compatibility with the selected fixture and driver configuration before ordering.
This is especially important where lighting forms part of an energy-code or building-control strategy. The luminaire, driver, sensor, and control system must be evaluated as a compatible system rather than as independent components.
Commercial Indoor Lighting by Application
Offices and Workspaces
Prioritize uniformity, task visibility, visual comfort, and controllability. Architectural linear and strip luminaires can provide the ambient layer, while final output and spacing should reflect ceiling height, workstation layout, partitions, daylight, and surface conditions.
Retail Stores and Showrooms
Prioritize color rendering, focal contrast, and flexible distribution. General linear lighting can establish ambient illumination while CRI 90+ track lighting directs attention toward merchandise and displays. Beam selection should follow target size, fixture distance, and desired contrast.
Schools and Institutional Spaces
Prioritize broad coverage, visual-task illumination, and uniformity. Linear lighting is well suited to classrooms and similar spaces, while layouts should consider desks, teaching surfaces, daylight, controls, and operating schedules.
Hospitality and Finished Interiors
Prioritize atmosphere, architectural integration, and visual comfort. Warmer CCTs can support relaxed environments, while architectural linear and directional lighting can establish visual hierarchy across reception areas, corridors, dining spaces, and other finished interiors.
T8 Retrofit Projects
Prioritize wiring, compatibility, required output, and installation method. STARLAKE offers integrated T8 and Type B configurations for different replacement approaches. Compare lumen output, distribution, voltage, wiring, and resulting illuminance rather than relying on wattage equivalence alone.
What to Specify Before Requesting a Quote
A useful commercial lighting quotation starts with project conditions, not only a requested wattage.
Provide as much of the following information as possible:
Space type and intended use
Dimensiones de la habitación
Ceiling or mounting height
Target illuminance if specified
Preferred fixture type
Existing fixture information for retrofit projects
Required lumen or wattage range
CCT and CRI requirements
Tensión de entrada
Mounting method
Dimming or control requirements
Required certifications
Estimated quantity
Private-label, packaging, or labeling requirements
Delivery destination and project schedule
For layout-sensitive projects, drawings and relevant dimensions can help evaluate fixture selection and photometric requirements more accurately.
OEM and ODM Indoor Lighting for Brands and Distributors
For lighting brands and distributors, fixture performance is only one part of product-line planning. Certification, product consistency, configurable specifications, inventory complexity, packaging, engineering responsiveness, and supply continuity also affect the commercial viability of a lighting program.
STARLAKE supports OEM, ODM, private-label, and customized commercial indoor lighting programs. Depending on the product and project, support can include:
Wattage and lumen configuration
CCT configuration
Driver and electrical options
Optical development
Structural and mechanical customization
Private labeling
Packaging customization
Certification support
Sample approval
Production and quality-control coordination
Selectable wattage and CCT configurations on certain STARLAKE indoor products can allow one product platform to address multiple project requirements.
For distributors, this can create a useful sourcing relationship:
Selectable Configurations → Fewer Fixed SKUs → Easier Inventory Planning
For lighting brands, requirements involving optics, drivers, structure, tooling, controls, or certification can be reviewed during product development rather than after mass production begins.
