STARLAKE LED gas station lights are designed for fuel station canopies, forecourts, service areas, and commercial retrofit projects where reliable illumination, uniform coverage, and long operating hours matter.
The GS05 LED Gas Station Canopy Light is available in 100W, 120W, 150W, 200W, and 240W, with direct ceiling and 3/4-inch NPT pendant mounting options for different canopy structures.
The right fixture, however, isn’t determined by wattage alone. STARLAKE approaches canopy lighting around delivered illuminance, distribution, uniformity, glare, installation, and electrical requirements so the selected fixture fits the actual project rather than simply producing a higher lumen number.

GS05 LED Gas Station Canopy Light Options
The GS05 platform covers five wattage levels across two housing sizes, allowing contractors, distributors, and project buyers to match the fixture configuration more closely to the canopy.
| Power | Fixture Dimensions | Selection Consideration |
|---|---|---|
| 100W | Approx. 16.54 × 16.54 × 2.64 in. | Lower-output canopy requirements |
| 120W | Approx. 16.54 × 16.54 × 2.64 in. | Moderate commercial canopy applications |
| 150W | Approx. 16.54 × 16.54 × 2.64 in. | Higher output within the compact housing platform |
| 200W | Approx. 21.26 × 21.26 × 2.64 in. | Larger or higher-output canopy projects |
| 240W | Approx. 21.26 × 21.26 × 2.64 in. | Highest-output GS05 configuration |
These are output options, not fixed mounting-height recommendations.
Final selection should consider canopy dimensions, mounting height, fixture spacing, required illuminance, optical distribution, fixture quantity, and existing lighting conditions.
Delivered Light Matters More Than Lumens Alone
A gas station doesn’t need the brightest fixture. It needs the right amount of light delivered to the right surfaces.
LEDs are compact, directional sources. Without appropriate optical control, a high-output array can create an intense zone directly beneath the luminaire while leaving weaker illumination between fixtures or near canopy edges.
That is why total lumens alone cannot describe canopy lighting performance.
Total lumens → light distribution → canopy geometry → useful illuminance
For a commercial gas station, the layout should consider:
Ground-level illuminance
Coverage around fuel dispensers
Fixture spacing
Mounting height
Uniformity across pump islands
Visibility around vehicles and equipment
Driver-facing glare
Two fixtures with similar lumen output can produce different results once optics, mounting height, spacing, and canopy geometry are introduced.
For projects where light levels and uniformity are specified, fixture-specific photometric data should be used to validate the final layout.
Uniform Illumination With Controlled Glare
A high illuminance reading directly below one fixture doesn’t prove that the entire forecourt is properly illuminated.
Poor distribution can create alternating bright and dark areas around pumps and vehicle lanes. Increasing wattage may make the central hotspot brighter without correcting the underlying distribution problem.
Glare also matters because drivers often enter the forecourt from a considerably darker roadway. Excessive source brightness within their field of view can make visual adaptation more difficult when they need to identify pedestrians, curbs, fuel dispensers, signs, and other vehicles.
A better design balances output, optical distribution, spacing, and fixture position to create useful illumination across the canopy instead of isolated bright points.
How to Select an LED Gas Station Light
Use the site conditions to determine the fixture rather than starting with a wattage-equivalence chart.
Site → Target → Layout → Output → Electrical → Verification
1. Site
Measure the canopy length, width, mounting height, pump-island positions, proposed fixture locations, and relevant structural details.
2. Target
Define the required illuminance for fueling, payment, circulation, and other task areas based on the project specification and applicable requirements.
3. Layout
Evaluate fixture spacing and optical distribution. The lighting system should cover the required area rather than maximize one measurement directly below each fixture.
4. Output
Compare the available 100W to 240W GS05 options after the geometry and performance targets are understood.
Higher wattage should be selected because the layout requires it, not simply because it is available.
5. Electrical
Confirm site voltage, wiring, dimming requirements, mounting method, and available installation clearance.
6. Verification
For performance-critical projects, verify the proposed layout with fixture-specific photometric data or an IES-based lighting calculation before final specification.
Color Quality and Nighttime Visibility
Legacy outdoor lighting systems often prioritized efficacy and lamp life while accepting limited color rendering.
LED technology provides more flexibility to balance efficiency with color quality. Appropriate CCT and CRI can support clearer recognition of vehicles, pedestrians, equipment, safety information, pump interfaces, and branded surfaces.
This can also improve how the canopy and convenience-store environment appear after dark.
Color quality still needs to be evaluated with the complete lighting system. Higher CRI cannot compensate for poor uniformity, insufficient illuminance, or excessive glare, and a higher CCT isn’t automatically better for every site.
Required CCT and CRI should be confirmed for the selected product configuration and project specification.
Commercial Canopy Reliability Starts With the Environment
Gas station luminaires may operate for long hours while facing moisture, dust, temperature changes, cleaning activity, and different levels of exposure around the canopy perimeter.
Important specification checks therefore include:
Ingress protection
Ambient operating temperature
Housing and sealing construction
Moisture and dust exposure
Corrosion conditions
Driver protection
Thermal management
Mounting security
Maintenance access
The required protection level depends on the installation. A fixture positioned well inside a canopy may experience different exposure from one mounted near an open edge.
Product-specific environmental ratings should therefore be confirmed for the selected GS05 configuration.
Thermal Management Affects Long-Term Performance
High-output LEDs still produce heat that must be moved away from the LED junction.
The basic thermal path is:
LED junction → PCB and thermal interface → luminaire housing → surrounding air
Higher thermal resistance along this path increases junction temperature, which can affect lumen maintenance and component reliability over time.
For gas stations with long nightly or continuous operating schedules, thermal design should therefore be considered alongside initial efficacy.
STARLAKE’s engineering capabilities include thermal management, optics, power supply design, mechanical development, digital controls, and LED integration, allowing these factors to be evaluated as one luminaire system.
A Better Approach to HID Canopy Retrofits
Metal halide and high-pressure sodium fixtures have historically been common in outdoor commercial lighting.
LED technology can provide directional optical control, fast startup, electronic control capability, and opportunities to reduce connected load and maintenance. But an HID retrofit shouldn’t be specified by wattage equivalence alone.
Before selecting a replacement, review:
Existing lamp and fixture type
Existing system wattage
Ballast condition and consumption
Fixture age and lumen depreciation
Mounting height
Fixture spacing
Current or required light levels
Existing optical condition
Site voltage
Then follow a performance-based process:
Existing system → required performance → canopy geometry → photometric evaluation → LED selection
This reduces the risk of both under-lighting the site and installing unnecessary wattage.
Ceiling and 3/4-Inch NPT Pendant Mounting
GS05 supports two documented installation approaches.
Ceiling Mounting
GS05 can be mounted directly to the canopy structure. The documented installation procedure includes fixing hardware and a safety rope as an additional retention point above vehicle and pedestrian areas.
The mounting surface and fixing points should be verified for the fixture and applicable project requirements before installation.
3/4-Inch NPT Pendant Mounting
A 3/4-inch NPT pendant installation is also supported.
The electrical connection passes through the stem before the fixture is secured, providing an alternative for canopy structures or retrofit conditions that require suspended mounting.
Final installation should always be coordinated with the actual canopy structure and electrical layout.
Dimming and Lighting Control Integration
The supplied GS05 wiring documentation identifies:
Black – Line
White – Neutral
Green – Earth
Purple – Dim+
Pink – Dim-
Dedicated dimming conductors provide a basis for integration with a compatible lighting-control configuration.
The exact input voltage, driver, dimming protocol, and control compatibility should be confirmed before ordering.
For projects using dimming, schedules, daylight-responsive operation, or another facility control strategy, define these requirements during quotation so the electrical configuration can be reviewed before production.
Commercial Applications
GS05 LED gas station lights are intended primarily for canopy and covered commercial applications including:
Gas station canopies
Fuel station forecourts
Convenience-store fueling areas
Covered vehicle service areas
Commercial service stations
Covered loading areas
Covered vehicle circulation zones
Fixture selection should still be based on the actual mounting height, environmental exposure, visual tasks, site geometry, electrical conditions, and operating schedule.

Thermal design
Mechanical requirements
Lighting controls
Product labeling
Private-label programs
Packaging
Certification support
Changes to electrical design, construction, tooling, or certification can affect MOQ, testing, cost, and production schedules. These requirements should therefore be reviewed during product development rather than after mass production begins.
STARLAKE’s 50+ engineering team supports development across optics, thermal management, power supplies, mechanical design, controls, and LED integration.
Quality Control for Long-Term Commercial Programs
Gas station fixtures are installed above active commercial areas, making premature failures more expensive to access and replace than many indoor luminaires.
STARLAKE supports commercial lighting programs with 30+ quality-control professionals, while bulk production orders undergo an 8-hour aging test to help identify early electrical or assembly failures before shipment.
New products undergo 30 days of continuous high-temperature testing as part of STARLAKE’s validation process.
These tests address specific risks rather than serving as a standalone lifetime guarantee. Long-term reliability also depends on thermal design, component selection, electrical protection, manufacturing consistency, operating conditions, and appropriate product validation.
STARLAKE’s broader manufacturing operations in Shenzhen and Cambodia provide the production capacity needed to support repeat commercial and distribution programs.
Supply Support for North American Buyers
STARLAKE combines Asian manufacturing operations with an Ohio/California warehouse supporting North American customers.
For distributors, lighting brands, and project buyers, this supply structure can help balance factory production with local inventory availability, replenishment planning, and delivery requirements.
STARLAKE also works with certification and compliance systems including UL, DLC, FCC, and ISO 9001.
Certification requirements should always be confirmed at the individual product level. Safety certification, energy-efficiency qualification, electromagnetic compliance, and quality-management certification serve different purposes.
Provide the target market and required certifications during quotation so the appropriate configuration can be reviewed.
One Product Platform for Different Commercial Buyers
Different buyers evaluate the same gas station light from different perspectives.
Electrical contractors and project buyers need reliable mounting, wiring, photometric suitability, documentation, and project delivery.
Lighting distributors need consistent products that are easier to stock, specify, replace, and support across repeat orders.
Lighting brands and importers may require engineering changes, private labeling, packaging, certification support, and long-term production stability.
