STARLAKE commercial LED troffer lights provide broad general illumination for offices, schools, healthcare facilities, banks, hospitality spaces, and other commercial interiors built around modular ceiling layouts.

Available in standard 1×4, 2×2, and 2×4 ft formats, the series combines selectable wattage, selectable 3500K/4000K/5000K CCT, 0–10V dimming, and 120° distribution. Configurations range from 15W to 45W with output up to 5,850 lumens, with optional PIR sensor and emergency driver configurations.

For retrofit and new-construction projects, selection should begin with the ceiling format, required illumination, existing layout, electrical configuration, and controls rather than existing fluorescent wattage alone.

A Modern Replacement for Commercial Fluorescent Troffers

Fluorescent troffers have traditionally combined a modular ceiling format with broad general illumination.

LED troffers retain this ceiling-oriented fixture architecture while replacing fluorescent lamps and ballasts with an integrated LED system.

They can also introduce selectable output, selectable CCT, 0–10V dimming, sensors, and emergency-driver configurations.

For retrofit projects, use:

Existing Troffer Format → Ceiling Grid → Existing Layout → Required Illuminance → LED Distribution → Output → Controls → Installation Compatibility

The objective is to replace the required lighting performance and maintain ceiling compatibility—not simply match the wattage printed on the fluorescent fixture.

1×4, 2×2 and 2×4 LED Troffer Configurations

STARLAKE offers three common troffer formats:

ModelFormatSelectable PowerLuminous FluxSelectable CCT
SS-TRF141×4 ft35 / 30 / 25 / 20 / 15W4,550 lm3500K / 4000K / 5000K
SS-TRF222×2 ft35 / 30 / 25 / 20 / 15W4,550 lm3500K / 4000K / 5000K
SS-TRF242×4 ft45 / 40 / 35 / 30 / 25W5,850 lm3500K / 4000K / 5000K

1×4 LED Troffer

The narrow 1×4 format can coordinate with linear ceiling layouts, corridors, smaller rooms, and ceiling zones where an elongated fixture fits the grid or architectural arrangement.

2×2 LED Troffer

The square 2×2 format integrates with common modular ceiling grids and can provide additional layout flexibility around HVAC diffusers, sprinklers, detectors, and other ceiling services.

2×4 LED Troffer

The 2×4 format provides a larger luminous surface with output up to 5,850 lumens.

It can suit larger commercial rooms or existing ceiling layouts already designed around 2×4 fluorescent troffers.

Final format selection should consider:

Ceiling Grid → Existing Opening → Room Geometry → Required Illuminance → Fixture Spacing → Surrounding Ceiling Services

Nominal fixture size alone does not establish installation compatibility.

Selectable Wattage and CCT Help Consolidate SKUs

The SS-TRF14 and SS-TRF22 provide selectable 15W, 20W, 25W, 30W, and 35W operation.

The SS-TRF24 provides selectable 25W, 30W, 35W, 40W, and 45W operation.

All three models provide 3500K, 4000K, and 5000K selectable CCT.

For contractors, this allows output and CCT to be commissioned closer to actual project requirements.

For distributors:

Selectable Wattage + Selectable CCT → Fewer Fixed SKUs → Lower Inventory Complexity

The highest wattage setting is not automatically the correct setting. Output should follow required illuminance, ceiling height, fixture spacing, and room geometry.

Uniform Commercial Lighting Is About Distribution

STARLAKE LED troffer lights use a broad 120° distribution for general commercial illumination.

Installed performance follows:

Output → Distribution → Ceiling Height → Fixture Spacing → Work-Plane Illuminance → Uniformity

Total lumens alone do not describe how effectively light reaches desks, floors, or other working surfaces.

Increasing fixture output can raise illuminance, but it does not automatically correct excessive spacing or an unsuitable layout.

For larger projects, evaluate:

  • Required work-plane illuminance

  • Ceiling height

  • Fixture spacing

  • Room geometry

  • Surface reflectance

  • Workstation locations

  • Available daylight

  • Fixture-specific photometrics

IES-based layout verification can provide a stronger basis for final fixture quantity and spacing than lumen output alone.

Choose 3500K, 4000K or 5000K

STARLAKE troffers provide three selectable color temperatures:

CCTAppearanceTypical Direction
3500KWarmer neutralComfort-oriented commercial and hospitality interiors
4000KBalanced neutral whiteGeneral offices, schools, and commercial interiors
5000KCooler whiteProjects specifying a cooler appearance

CCT should follow project specifications, interior finishes, daylight conditions, adjacent lighting, and the intended visual environment.

Within a continuous visual zone, keep the commissioned CCT consistent unless the lighting design intentionally requires variation.

Voltage, Dimming and Control Options

STARLAKE LED troffer lights support 0–10V dimming and are available in AC120–277V and AC120–347V configurations.

Optional PIR sensor and emergency driver configurations support additional project requirements.

0–10V Dimming

0–10V dimming allows compatible controls to adjust fixture output rather than operating every luminaire continuously at full output.

Compatibility should be evaluated across:

Driver → Control Device → Control Architecture → Project Wiring

Supporting 0–10V does not automatically establish compatibility with every control system.

PIR Occupancy Sensor

An optional PIR sensor can support occupancy-based operation in intermittently occupied spaces.

Sensor location, detection pattern, room geometry, partitions, and occupant movement can affect detection performance.

Emergency Driver

An optional emergency driver is available where emergency-lighting functionality is required.

Emergency output, duration, circuit arrangement, testing, and compliance requirements can vary by project and jurisdiction.

The required emergency configuration should therefore be established during specification rather than added as an assumed accessory after fixture selection.

Ceiling Integration and Installation Compatibility

A troffer is part of the ceiling system as well as the lighting system.

Before ordering, verify:

  • Ceiling grid type

  • Actual opening dimensions

  • Fixture format

  • Ceiling height

  • Plenum conditions

  • Nearby HVAC diffusers

  • Sprinklers and fire-protection equipment

  • Electrical routing

  • Driver and emergency-component space

  • Installation and service access

A useful compatibility chain is:

Ceiling Grid → Fixture Format → Physical Fit → Electrical Configuration → Controls → Service Access

This becomes especially important during retrofit work.

Two luminaires described as 2×2 or 2×4 should not automatically be assumed to have identical mechanical, electrical, or installation requirements.

LED Troffer vs Fluorescent Troffer

LED troffers retain a familiar commercial ceiling format while changing the light source, electrical architecture, controls, and maintenance requirements.

Project ConsiderationTraditional Fluorescent TrofferSTARLAKE LED Troffer

InventoryMultiple combinations may be requiredSelectable configurations can consolidate SKUs

For retrofit planning, document:

  • Existing troffer format

  • Lamp and ballast configuration

  • Existing fixture quantity

  • Ceiling grid and fixture layout

  • Existing light level

  • Required light level

  • Voltage

  • Controls

  • Emergency requirements

  • Installation conditions

Then evaluate whether the LED troffer can use the existing layout or whether fixture quantity, output, or control architecture should change.

Replace the required commercial lighting performance—not the fluorescent wattage.

LED Troffer vs LED Panel Light

LED troffers and LED panel lights can both provide broad commercial ambient illumination, so product selection should not be based only on appearance.

The key distinction is how the fixture integrates with the ceiling and project architecture.

Selection FactorLED TrofferLED Panel Light
Primary RoleBroad commercial ambient lightingBroad commercial ambient lighting
Ceiling RelationshipStrongly associated with standard troffer/grid formatsSlim panel architecture with recessed or compatible flush-mount options
Common Formats1×4, 2×2, 2×4Platform-specific panel dimensions
Retrofit IntentStrong fit for existing fluorescent troffer replacementSuitable where panel form and mounting conditions fit
Existing Fluorescent SystemTroffer format, lamps, ballast, ceiling grid are key inputsExisting fixture dimensions and ceiling compatibility are key inputs
Selection PriorityCeiling format + retrofit compatibility + lighting performanceBroad luminous surface + ceiling integration + lighting performance

Neither fixture type is inherently better.

Use:

Existing Ceiling / New Ceiling Design → Required Fixture Format → Lighting Performance → Installation Compatibility

to determine the appropriate product family.

Commercial Applications

LED troffers are intended for commercial and institutional interiors requiring broad general illumination.

ApplicationTroffer RoleKey Variables
OfficesGeneral work-area illuminationWork-plane illuminance, controls, ceiling grid
SchoolsGeneral classroom illuminationOutput, spacing, ceiling format
Healthcare InteriorsGeneral illumination in suitable spacesProject requirements, controls, emergency configuration
BanksGeneral customer and work-area lightingOutput, CCT, ceiling integration
Hospitality SpacesGeneral ambient illuminationCCT, dimming, layout
Commercial InteriorsGrid-based general lightingFixture format, output, controls

These sections intentionally remain application-level.

Detailed office, classroom, healthcare, or retail lighting design should be addressed according to the specific visual tasks and requirements of those spaces rather than treating the troffer product page as an application-design guide.

How to Select the Right Commercial LED Troffer

Use this sequence:

1. Confirm the Ceiling Format

Determine whether the project requires 1×4, 2×2, or 2×4 and verify actual ceiling and installation dimensions.

2. Define the Lighting Requirement

Establish required work-plane illuminance and the visual task rather than using fixture wattage as the target.

3. Review Room Geometry

Evaluate ceiling height, room dimensions, fixture spacing, and surrounding ceiling services.

4. Select Distribution and Output

Use fixture photometrics and selectable wattage to determine the appropriate output for the proposed layout.

5. Select CCT

Choose 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K according to project requirements.

6. Confirm Electrical Configuration

Verify AC120–277V or AC120–347V and identify 0–10V dimming, PIR sensing, and emergency-driver requirements.

7. Verify the Layout

For larger projects, validate fixture quantity and spacing against actual room geometry and photometric information.

The overall sequence is:

Ceiling Format → Required Illuminance → Room Geometry → Distribution → Output → Electrical Configuration → Controls → Layout Verification

Configurable Troffers for Distributor Programs

Selectable wattage and CCT allow each troffer format to cover several project configurations.

For distribution programs:

1×4 / 2×2 / 2×4 Platform → Selectable Output + Selectable CCT → Fewer Fixed Variants

This can reduce inventory complexity while maintaining the standard ceiling formats contractors frequently encounter.

STARLAKE also maintains warehouse support in Ohio and California for selected North American inventory and replenishment requirements.

OEM and ODM LED Troffer Light Solutions

STARLAKE supports OEM and ODM programs for lighting brands, distributors, importers, contractors, and project suppliers.

Customization can involve:

  • Wattage and lumen configuration

  • Selectable wattage configuration

  • CCT configuration

  • Driver and voltage configuration

  • Optical development

  • Sensor integration

  • Emergency driver configuration

  • Mechanical and structural changes

  • Housing and appearance

  • Private labeling

  • Packaging

  • Certification support

Different modifications require different levels of engineering review:

Label / Packaging → Limited Engineering Impact

Driver / Controls / Emergency System → Electrical Review

Optical Change → Photometric Validation

Mechanical Change → Ceiling / Structural Compatibility Review

Major Redesign → Potential Tooling + Testing + Certification Impact

These relationships should be evaluated before sample approval and mass production.

Manufacturing & Quality Control

STARLAKE has manufactured LED lighting since 2010 and operates approximately 280,000 sq.ft of production space with more than 400 employees and manufacturing facilities in Shenzhen and Cambodia.

The company has 50+ engineering professionals covering areas including LED integration, power supplies, optics, thermal management, mechanical design, controls, reliability, and product optimization.

STARLAKE also has 30+ quality-control professionals supporting production.

Bulk orders undergo an 8-hour aging test before shipment. Newly developed products undergo 30 days of continuous high-temperature testing as part of product validation.

These procedures support early electrical, component, thermal, and assembly screening. Aging testing alone does not establish complete product service life.

What Information Should You Provide for a Troffer Quote?

For project evaluation or quotation, provide:

  • Required quantity

  • 1×4, 2×2, or 2×4 format

  • Ceiling type and existing opening

  • Target wattage or required illuminance

  • Ceiling height

  • Room dimensions or reflected ceiling plan

  • Preferred CCT

  • AC120–277V or AC120–347V requirement

  • 0–10V dimming requirement

  • PIR sensor requirement

  • Emergency driver requirement

  • Installation method

  • Required certifications

  • Private-label or packaging requirements

  • Target delivery schedule

Where illuminance and uniformity matter, a reflected ceiling plan and lighting requirements provide more useful information than existing fluorescent wattage alone.

STARLAKE can then evaluate:

Fixture Format → Output → Distribution → Layout → Electrical Configuration → Controls → Installation Compatibility

around the actual project requirements.

Build the Troffer Around the Ceiling and Lighting Requirement

The right commercial LED troffer must do more than fit a nominal ceiling opening.

Selection should coordinate:

Ceiling Format → Required Illuminance → Distribution → Output → Controls → Installation

STARLAKE provides configurable 1×4, 2×2, and 2×4 LED troffer lights together with OEM/ODM engineering, manufacturing, quality control, and North American supply support for commercial lighting programs.
